Unification day in Romania is always on January 24th each year and celebrates the union of Wallachia and Moldavia which forms modern day Romania.

People spend time with family and friends and enjoy the day off. This day is a national holiday where most government and business offices are closed.

History

Back on January 24, 1862 Wallachia and Moldavia where united to make the United Principalities and later with the addition of Transylvania in 1866 a new constitution was put together naming the region Romania.
