Victory Day in Ukraine falls on May 9th each year celebrating Germany's surrender to the Soviet Union in 1945 as part of World War 2
People can attend a large military parade in Red Square in Moscow or watch old World War 2 movies that honor veterans and their service. There are also many local parades throughout the country celebrating war veterans.
The Soviet Union lost about 25 million citizens in World War 2 fighting the Germans. Victory Day is the day that the Germans surrendered to the Soviet Union back in 1945.
