This year Parents Day is celebrated/ observed on Sunday July 23rd, 2017. Parents day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July annually. The day celebrates parents role in parenting and how important parenting is for our children. Both Father's Day and Mother's Day also celebrate the important contributions Parents make in raising our children.
This day brings forward the responsibility of parenting and the importance of it. Some people send cards, gifts, go out to eat or have a celebrations with family at home to show support for parenting. Community groups and organizations may have a fair or other celebratory events to highlight the day and bring attention to the day.
In 1994 then President Bill Clinton signed a congressional resolution into law forming Parents Day to be on the fourth Sunday of July to be Parents Day. The bill was originally introduced by then Senator Trent Lott and was supported by the Unification Church which at the time had its own Parents Day but on a different date.
