Corpus Christi or also called the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday each year. Portugal calls this day Dia de Corpo de Dues. The day celebrates the real presence of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the Eucharist.
Many will attend church and accept Eucharist from the priest at the end of the ceremony. Some areas have outdoor processions with Priests and first time recievers of communion in honor of this day.
The word Corpus Christi is latin for the Body of Christ. The day commemorates the Last Supper the day before Christ's crucifixion according to the Bible.
