Holy spirit coming down over the apostles

This year Pentecost is celebrated/ observed on Sunday June 4th, 2017. This day is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter Sunday. A Christian holy day known also as Whit Sunday commemorating the decent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and followers of Jesus Christ.

Celebration\ Observance

Pentecost is a Christian observance commemorating the decent of the Holy Spirit on to the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ as detailed in Acts of the Apostles. Many Christians see this day as gods love and care expanding from Judaism to all people. This day is often celebrated by church service, prayer and worship. Pentecost is not a federal national holiday but rather an observance celebrated nationally.

History

On the 50th day after Easter, according to the second chapter of the Book of Acts, about one hundred twenty followers of Christ including the Twelve Apostles and mother Mary together i the Upper Room, the Holy Spirit descended upon them. There after they received the gift to speak other languages (other tongues) and began to preach about the story of Jesus Christ.
