Whit Monday falls each year the day after Pentecost or Whit Sunday, which celebrates the descent of the Holy Ghost on the disciples. The day is not a public holiday so government and business offices will be open for business.

Many will attend church service with some churches involved in setting up outdoor marches outside for their parishioners.

History

Whit Monday is the day after Pentecost which is the day the apostles received the gift of tongues from the descent of the Holy Ghost. Pentecost falls 50 days after Easter Day and has been celebrated from the early beginnings of the church.
